Metal detectors keep sauces safe

Since being founded in 1992, Panesar Foods has built an enviable reputation for the quality of its sauces, which range from Indian, Mexican and Chinese to North and South African. Although originally a contract manufacturer, Panesar has recently introduced its own label, Mexi-Grande and Indi-Grand, covering a wide range of Mexican and Indian sauces aiming for mainland Europe. To maintain its reputation for reliable, high quality products, Panesar has invested in metal detection equipment from S+S Inspection for both in-production and end of line product inspection to ensure compliance with HACCP.
All sauces and pastes are checked for metal contamination using an S+S Liquiscan in-line metal detector between the production area and the filling line where two S+S conveyor based units are used at the end of the filling line as a final check before capping.
This approach ensures that there is no possibility of any metal contaminated product leaving the factory.
According to Operations Director, Jas Panesar, an important feature of S+S equipment is the simplicity of set-up and use, especially the 'Auto Teach' facility that allows even the least experienced to set-up the detection system quickly and reliably.
As with any production equipment, reliability and service are important factors in maintaining both a good quality reputation and high productivity.
'We upgraded to S+S metal detectors five years ago and have been impressed with the reliability and ease of use,' Says Jas Panesar, 'not to mention the very good technical service when something does go wrong.
