Coeur completes sale of Silver Valley; comments on status of Bolivia project
Silver and gold mining company Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. on Thursday completed the sale of its Coeur Silver Valley subsidiary to U.S. Silver Corp. for $15 million in cash.
Coeur said the deal will result in a pretax gain of $10 million to $12 million in the second quarter.
Silver Valley operates the Galena underground silver mine in Idaho and some properties adjacent to the mine.
Coeur now estimates it will report consolidated silver production in 2006 of 15.6 million ounces at a cost of $3.57 per ounce, compared with 13.7 million ounces at $4.26 per ounce in 2005.
The company also said the Bolivian Minister of Mines told the company his government does not intend to nationalize the company's San Bartolome project, which Coeur expects to begin producing 6 million to 8 million ounces of silver per year toward the end of 2007.
