100% weight and quality check for Crepe Cuisine

A combined checkweigher and metal detector unit from Avery Weigh-Tronix means that Crepe Cuisine can now check all of its blinis (pancakes) for weight and contaminants before despatch. Previously just five percent were randomly checkweighed to ensure minimum weight compliance. Avery Weigh-Tronix installed the equipment so that Crepe Cuisine could meet the stringent demands of a supermarket.
The company now weighs packs of up to 1500g to the nearest 0.2g at speeds of up to 60 packs per minute.
The machine can also recognise 2mm contaminants using a highly sensitive Mesutronic metal detector head.
This learns the product characteristics so that it can detect any differences instantly.
A lockable bin receives contaminated packs off the conveyor for quarantine and a pusher reject mechanism sends under or overweight packs to a table.
This ensures both minimum weight compliance and reduces product giveaway.
An integral tally roll printer prints data at the end of each production period including the number of packs, average pack weight and number of rejects, to assist with due diligence.
With space at a premium, the combined unit not only fulfils the Crepe Cuisine quality control needs, but also saves over a metre of floor space.
The equipment features an easy menu-guided operation through a user-friendly touch screen.
