Catalysts For Processing Fuel For Use In Fuel Cells - Supplier Data by NexTech Materials

NexTech Materials currently is developing a number of materials and component technologies required for the successful development and deployment of reforming systems that will allow fuel cells to operate using logistic fuels.

These technologies include sulfur-tolerant water-gas-shift catalysts, sulfur-tolerant and carbon-resistant hydrocarbon reforming catalysts, sulfur scrubbing materials, and a suite of gas sensors for use in fuel cell systems.
Water-Gas-Shift Catalysts

Over the past five years, NexTech has established itself as a leading developer and supplier of non-pyrophoric ceria based WGS catalysts for fuel processing systems. NexTech is leading a project aimed at development of catalysts and membranes required for generating hydrogen from reformed logistic diesel fuels. NexTech’s effort on this project is directed at water-gas-shift catalysts that are tolerant to high levels of H2S (10-100 ppm). In conjunction with sulfur-tolerant membranes, these catalysts will reduce the weight associated with sulfur removal systems. Several sulfur-tolerant catalysts formulations have been identified and currently are being subjected to long-term testing in sulfur-containing gases.
Sulfur-Tolerant Reforming Catalysts

NexTech Materials is developing a new family of carbon-resistant and sulfur-tolerant reforming catalysts, which are applicable to steam reforming, partial oxidation, and autothermal reforming reactions. These catalysts are prepared using a novel composite materials approach for achieving high dispersion of catalytic metals on oxide supports. These novel catalysts are being developed both for gaseous fuels (e.g. methane and propane) and for liquid hydrocarbon fuels (jet fuel). NexTech also is a subcontractor on a project aimed at demonstration of a solid oxide fuel cell system operating on logistic fuels. NexTech’s role in this project is development and production of sulfur-tolerant steam reforming catalysts and sulfur-adsorbent catalysts for use in the contractor's fuel processor.
