Heavy metal contamination of soil; problems and remedies

Biological and earth scientists from India, Europe, and the US summarize research findings for selected aspects of soil contamination with heavy metals, its consequences, and remediation measures. One emphasis is the long-term effect on the soil of both the contamination and the mitigation. The topics include the bio-availability of metals and metalloids in terrestrial environments, microbially mediated changes in the mobility of contaminant metals in soils and sediments, bio-remediation, the effects of metal-contaminate organic wastes on microbial biomass and activities, and characterizing and evaluating municipal solid waste compost by microbiological and biochemical parameters in soil under laboratory and field conditions. Distributed in the US by Enfield.
