Electronics and Instrumentation Technology Services available from Advanced Research Corporation - ARC
Background
Electronics encompass a large array of products and services. Everything from simple circuits to complex digital signal processing can be described under electronics. The same is true with instrumentation technology. ARC has the capability to design, build, and test both the simple and the complex electronics and instrumentation.
Circuits
Circuit Maker and Electronics Workbench are the design tools for modelling (SPICE) and layout (GERBER File) of circuits, test boards, production electronics, etc.
Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)
When designing high speed, flexible digital circuits, nothing is better than FPGAs. From simple clocking designs to large complex timing and inter-circuit communications, FPGAs are extremely versatile. ARC uses Xilinx FPGAs and Xilinx ISE software for creating test platforms.
Digital Signal Processors (DSPs)
When a microprocessor is too slow or too over-complicated, DSPs are used to efficiently and rapidly perform calculations on digitized signals. The big advantages of DSPs lie in the programmability of the processor, and the real-time processing of signals. DSPs are used in everything from cell phones to fax machines. ARC uses Texas Instruments DSPs for processing test signals.
LABoratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW)
LabVIEW is a platform and development environment for a visual programming language from National Instruments. It is used for data acquisition, instrument control, and industrial automation on a variety of platforms. ARC currently owns the latest version of LabVIEW (Version 8.0), and uses it for a variety of Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications.
